Youth Development and Masquers Theatre Company is teaming up for the eighth year to bring hands-on theater camps to Forest Lake.


Beginner Drama Camp Ages 6-12

Learn the basics of theater performance including theater terminology, staging, voice, characterization and more while creating your own unique show and having a great time with friends. No performing arts experience necessary. We'll end camp with a special performance for family, friends and community.

*After auditions, an additional $10 fee will be assessed to participants receiving lead roles.



Beginner Musical Camp Ages 6-12

Do you like to sing in the shower and dance under the stars? Has your only audience been mom, dad or you in the mirror? Here's a chance to learn basic musical performing arts skills - no musical theater experience is necessary! Participate in a live audition and work with other cast members to prepare a special "Broadway Revue" that will be performed for family, friends and community at the end of camp.

Intermediate Drama Camp Ages 10-17

Do you have some previous performing arts experience? Are you an older student experiencing theater for the first time? If you answered yes to one or both of these questions then this is the place to be! Take your beginning theater skills to the next level and end your amazing experience under the lights in a special performance for family and friends.

Intermediate Musical Camp Ages 10-17

Be ready to act yourself silly, sing at the top of your lungs and dance until the cows come home. Previous experience in vocal music and/or musical theatre performance is a must! Participate in a live audition for our summer production, Doo-Wop Wed Widing Hood** - a 1950's rock and roll fairy tale. We'll perform twice this year - for family and friends the last day of camp and in conjunction with the Masquers summer show Oliver! (date to be determined).

Advanced Acting Entering Grades 6-12

You don't have to be ready for Broadway or the Big Screen to participate in this camp - you simply need a solid background in stage performance. Study college level theatre elements in this fun and relaxed environment where learning and laughter are guaranteed. With the guidance of staff, you will even write, direct and perform your own short one-act play.

Choreography Camp Ages 6-17

This is a great companion program for beginner or intermediate musical camp participants. Learn common performing arts moves and polish your skills for your next stage performance. No special dance skills necessary - just bring a great attitude, your energy and enthusiasm.

Technical Theatre Camp Ages 12-15

Like the theatre scene, but not the on stage stuff? Here's a chance to get behind the scenes and learn about lights, sound, stage managing, set design and more. Participants will spend a week learning about the technical aspects of theatre, and take turns assisting with the summer camp productions. Class is limited to ten participants so register early.

Early Actors Ages 4 & 5

Gain confidence, make friends and have fun while building skills through movement, music and theater games. Explore various costumes and theater props, and learn about good manners in the theater. Whether you are as shy as a tortoise or as loud as a lion, you will learn something new - a great time guaranteed! Showcase what you've learned in a final mini-performance the last day of camp. You must be at least four years old by the first day of camp.
